  After working with Mary at Albert Brown's Mortuary for two weeks, and having solidified the logistics of laying my Mother to rest, Mary's supervisor, Donna phoned to tell me they would not assist us due to having been influenced by Bruce Williams, the funeral director at Piedmont Funeral Homes in Oakland, who has held my Mother hostage for almost three months, after refusing to allow her to be laid to rest in Mt. View Cemetery in Oakland. Rather than having returned my Mother, or allowing me to make arrangements to collect my Mother from Bruce Williams, Bruce breached his signed Release Agreement on April 19, 2017 and has since refused to return my Mother for burial since. It is Bruce's belief that he will profit not by returning my Mother to us, but rather by holding my Mother hostage, in "storage" in his facility. Had Bruce returned my Mother as he agreed contractually, my Mother would be at rest, but Bruce would not have profited by releasing my Mother. To date, this *man* is demanding some $30,000.00 in "damages." This is laughable given that it is Bruce who has escalated this matter, while refusing to work towards a resolve. The reason Bruce refused service was because after having been quoted $8,000.00 to lay my Mother to rest, the figure was increased to $18,000.00 after his facility had my Mother in their possession. This is classic bait-and-switch. This after I insisted on an itemized bill with a grand total, which to date has NEVER been received, clarifying/justifying the $10,000.00 increase in fees, is when Bruce should have returned my Mother. "Donna" is the second funeral director to have been collapsed under Bruce Williams's unethical conduct. I am now forced to obtain the burial permit on my own, and have friends assist me in collecting my Mother's remains from Bruce Williams. This man has behaved extraordinarily unethically, immorally, and dishonestly. DO NOT TRUST PIEDMONT FUNERAL HOME OR ALBERT BROWN'S TO HONOR WRITTEN OR ORAL OR AGREEMENTS. Lastly, because I submitted a complaint with the California Cemetery & Funeral Bureau, "Donna" said this was another reason she refused to work with me. We have officially arrived in a world where the bereaved consumer faces retaliation and blackballing for seeking the government's assistance when an organization has wronged a decedent and her family. BEWARE OF PIEDMONT FUNERAL HOME AND ALBERT BROWN'S MORTUARY. They conspire against the decedents and the bereaved in accomplishing what should be an honorable industry for the deceased.
